Location: NOBU Hotel Shoreditch
Menu: High End Japanese
Style: Hidden discreetly down a side-street filled with street art and scaffolding, Nobu hotel is a piece of serenity. It appears very sleek and striking with dark wood and gold finishes and has a stunning pocket garden as you approach. Inside as expected the interiors are understated, stylish, minimalist, and give off very relaxed vibes.
Why I visited: The idea was to a find place to have dinner, drinks and celebrate the new year at a venue that was relaxed, relatively informal and meant we didn’t need to move around much. So the NYE Dine, Dance and Stay package was a perfect option.
I ate and drank: Any time of the year Nobu offers the option to select from an omakase menu, which is a selection of dishes selected by the Chef. For New Years Eve the 7 course Omakase tasting menu included Grilled king crab, sautéed lobster, roast duck, and wagyu beef all very small, but yummy, however I had massive food envy after seeing and sampling the vegetarian omakase option and would try that next time. Sadly I slept in till check out and was way to hung over to try the infamous nobu brunch but I’d probably say it would be good.
Highlights: For me the gold sink in the bathroom was so beautiful and the sophisticated, minimalist design of the deluxe bedroom we stayed in offered a tranquil escape to the bustle of the City.
Would I go back: This place is a real treat and worth the splurge for a special occasion. I would love an excuse to go back to celebrate something like an anniversary… I better start dropping those hints!
